Technical Support Engineer — Submittals & Specifications
ABOUT THE ROLE Omega Engineering & Trading is the sole agent in Egypt for a number of leading international manufacturers of HVAC and firefighting equipment. Our products are installed in many of Egypt's largest projects.
We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to own the technical side of our projects: preparing material submittals, selecting and sizing products against project specifications, and working directly with MEP consultants and contractors to get our products approved.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Submittals & technical documentation:
- Prepare complete material submittals for MEP consultants and main contractors — technical data sheets, catalogues, certificates, country-of-origin and warranty documentation
- Prepare clause-by-clause compliance statements against project specifications
- Track submittals through to approval, respond to consultant comments, and re-submit until closed out
- Maintain the submittal register and approval status for each project
Product selection & sizing
- Select and size valves, PICVs, balancing valves, air curtains and water meters against project BOQs and drawings
- Produce PICV and valve schedules — flow rates, pressure drops, valve authority and Kv values
- Review consultant drawings and specifications, and prepare technical equivalence submissions where a competitor product is named
- Use manufacturer selection software and support the sales team with technical scope for quotations
Consultants, contractors & clients
- Visit MEP consultants to present our product range and secure inclusion in project specifications
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations
- Join contractor and client visits alongside the sales team to answer technical questions
- Attend site meetings and resolve technical queries during installation and commissioning
Coordination with manufacturers
- Correspond with manufacturers on technical queries, special selections and non-standard requirements
- Feed site and market requirements back to them
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 1–3 years of experience in MEP — with a supplier, contractor's technical office, or consultant
- Able to read and interpret MEP drawings and project specifications
- Very good written English — submittals and correspondence with our manufacturers are in English
- AutoCAD and strong Excel
- Organised and detail-oriented
PREFERRED
- Experience preparing material submittals for Egyptian MEP consultants
- Familiarity with chilled water systems, hydronic balancing, firefighting systems or BMS
- Valid driving license and own car
- Revit
